Chapter Eight

Mary ran after Jon who was about to leave the hospital. She caught him just before he got to the doors. “JON! Please will you stop.” She shouted just enough for him to hear.

He turned around with a not so pleasant look on his face. “Why? Why do you want me to stop? In fact why the hell do you even want me here?” he said angrily.

 “Please Jon I don’t want to go into this here. Can we please just talk at home?” She asked.

“Home? That’s a joke!” he threw at her.

“Please it’s not what you think I swear!” she said trying not to cry.

“Fine we’ll go back to your house but this better be good.” He said pissed. It was a long cab ride back to her mom’s house. They both sat quietly, not looking at each other.

Jon was thinking to himself ‘Do I really have the right to be mad at her. If she knew what I did she would never speak to me again. In fact she would take my nads and cut them off and shove them up my ass. Did she do the same thing or is she telling me the truth. If she’s telling me the truth I’m the most terrible person in the world. Worst the most terrible boyfriend in the world. Oh God do as Richie said and don’t tell her dumbass.’ They finally reached the house and got out. Luckily her mother wasn’t home yet. She fished for the key A.J. had given her and opened the door.

As they walked in she said to Jon “Hey we never did have dinner did we. Sorry I ruin our night.”

 “Yeah well again we need to talk about that.” He said not looking at her as he sat down on the couch.

“Well where do you want to start with first?” she asked halfheartedly.

“Well how about what I walked in on at the hospital. What the hell was that?” he asked hurt.

“Well I was concerned for a FRIEND who was shot trying to protect me, that’s all. And I was thanking him for putting his life in danger for me that’s all. Okay and saying goodbye alright, we were saying goodbye.” She said holding her breath.

“Why were you saying goodbye if nothing happened between you two?” He said upset.

She took a deep breath and said “Nothing psychical happened between us, except maybe we kissed.”

 “You what?”  he said back shocked.

“We kissed.” she said carefully.

“That’s worse than sleeping together.” He said with his mouth open.

“How do you think that?” she asked him even thou she knew the answer.

“Because it’s more intimate, and where the hell did you kiss him?” he asked sternly.

“At the cabin.” She wasn’t going to lie to him she was going to tell him the truth. She knew from previous experience from Michael that lying would get her into trouble.

“I knew there was more to that damn story than you were telling me.” He yelled.

“No! What happened was I just didn’t tell you everything. Um what happened was he had to keep me um warm because I was freezing so um he said we had to put our body heat together so we did.” Now she was squirming something bad.

 “So you laid fucking naked together!” he yelled again.

“Yes and no. I laid with my back on his stomach and he wrapped us up in the sheets by the fire. After we kissed. Then I fell asleep til morning and I swear nothing else happened I swear. I told him that I loved you and only you and that’s why nothing happen between us.” She said earnestly.

 “Then why did you kiss him?” he asked halfheartedly.

 “Because he bent down to kiss me? I don’t know Jon? A lot of things I guess. Missing you for one. That girl answering your phone for another.” She said shrugging her shoulders.

Shaking his head “I thought we put that behind us?” he asked.

“We did, but he was here flirting with me and at first it kinda pissed me off.” She told him honestly.

 Jon just cracked a small smile to that.

“Then I kinda started to like it, but I think what really happened was getting sick at the cabin and him really caring that I was sick and taking care of me like that, well I became stupid.” She said sadly staring at the floor with tears welling up in her eyes. Jon was watching her as she was talking and saw how sad she was. He knew in his heart by the way she was talking that she wasn’t unfaithful to him. Unlike himself but he still couldn’t remember that night. He walked over to her and wrapped his left arm around her waist and with his right hand tipped her chin up so their eyes could meet. Oh God she had tears in her eyes just trying to bust through. He moved his head so their lips would meet and ever so softly he brush his lips hers. After a few seconds their kiss turned passionate and deeper. What seemed like a life time to her she broke out of her haze and pulled away from him.

“Baby what’s the matter?” he asked.

“I thought… you were mad at me?” she asked really confused now.

With a slight smile “I was, I’m not anymore. I can see that you’re not lying to me. I can see it in your eyes plus you’re too nervous and jittery. When most people lie they’re really calm about it.” He chuckled.

“Well I’m glad I amuse you. And I’ll remember that next time I need to lie to you.” she said sarcastically.

 “You better not, plus I don’t think you could if you tried.” He said as he pulled her to him.

“Yeah give me time pal.” She smiled at him.

 “Well if you do there will be consequences Baby.” He said with a dirty little grin on his face.

 “Oh really like what?” she inquired.

“That’s for me to know and for you to definitely find out.” He said as he slapped her on her butt.

 “Yeah! What did I tell you about that? Don’t do that unless you mean business!” she demanded.

He just smiled down at her then he quickly picked her up and climbed the stairs up to her bedroom. Once they got up there he laid her on the bed and settled next to her. He started to stroke her hair and smiled at her.

She looked back at him. “What?” she asked.

 “You know what. We have to talk about it sooner or later Baby, and since that you were kidnapped well that’s that straw that broke the camel’s back.”

She knew exactly what he wanted to talk about. She moved her hand to his shirt to the open buttons by his chest and started to stroke the outline between there. “Baby I need to know if you’re coming back with me or not.” He asked still stroking her hair.

“I thought Doc didn’t want me there because he didn’t want me to distract you.” She asked him again.

 “It’s not his decision anymore, it’s mine. And I want you with me.” He told her.

She just looked at him lovingly. “You really want me with you huh.”

“What do you think?” he asked looking at her lovingly.

 “What am I supposed to tell my family? Oh by the way I’m running away with the circus.” She said.

 “Why not that’s what I did. Besides I don’t want you to do this anymore. I don’t want to be thousands of miles away from you thinking only God knows what. Did she get hurt AGAIN today? Oh wait maybe she’s dead. That would be a great call to get on the road, because the one call of you getting hurt was just swell.” He said aggravated.

“I said I was sorry about that didn’t I. I didn’t mean for you to hear it that way.” She whined.

He put his finger up to her lips. “Shhh I know you didn’t and it’s okay. I’m sorry I got you worked up, I didn’t mean to. I just want you to come back with me Baby that’s all, Please.” He asked.

“Well…You know there are ways to encourage me you know.” She said sexily while rubbing his chest very lightly with her nails.

He started to growl. “Really huh. What do you suggest?” he asked curiously.

 “Oh I think you know.” She said as her hand started to head south.

Smiling “Nope have no idea.” He said as he leaned in and started to kiss her. But it didn’t last long; he pulled away and looked at her lovingly.

“Why did you stop? Did I do something wrong?” she asked him.

 He smiled tenderly at her and said “No Baby you didn’t. But I want an answer before we make love so there’s no misunderstanding okay?”

 “No you want an answer in your favor because if I say no you’re going to up and leave me aren’t you?” she asked worried.

 He didn’t know what to say. “Okay then I think we need to be honest with each other then. I don’t know if I can live with you doing this for a living. It’s killing me alright. I’m so afraid that I’m going to lose you in a forever sort of way. I just can’t stand it. It’s driving me crazy and I can’t concentrate. I’m fucking up with the guys, I can’t write, I’m lucky I can get through the concerts…”

  But she cut him off before he could finish. “Why didn’t you tell me all this. I didn’t know, I just thought we were well you know just dating, having fun.” She stumbled through.

 “So you don’t feel the same way as I feel about you then?” he said sadly.

She put her hand up to cup his face. “Jon if I didn’t I would of never have gone to bed with you as fast as we did and I would of never of fended off Mick’s advances. ‘Trying not to tear up’ I fell in love with you the minute I met you even thought I tried to fight it off. I thought you were a pain in the ass but the cutest pain in the ass I ever saw. And the first time you kissed me I didn’t want you to stop. I just thought because of who you are you just wanted to keep things you know untied.” She said trying to get him off the hook.

“Are you kidding? I never ever felt like this about anyone before. I know I dated a lot of girls and gone to bed with a lot more and I’m not proud of that. Especially when you know you‘ve found the one. So here goes; I want this whatever it is between us that we have I don’t know; we’re dating exclusively okay no if’s and’s or but’s got it.” He proclaimed.

 She just looked at him amusingly “Yes sir!”

 “Very funny but I don’t want us not knowing where we stand anymore. I Love You. But my question is do you love me?” he asked needing to know the answer now.

 She just shook her head “Do I have to hit you in that head of yours? Weren’t you just listening to me? Of course I Love You. With all my heart. But what I’m about to say you’re not going to like.” She said scrunching up her face.

“No don’t tell me let me, you have to finish this case.” He said more than annoyed. She just shook her head yes. “But I thought the case was finished and you got the bad guys didn’t you?” he asked.

“Well I think so but I just want to check with the guys and if they say yes then I’ll say yes to you okay?” she said kind of confused.

“You fucking mean that?” he said as his eyes lit up.

“Yes I mean that. As soon as they say this case is over I’ll pack my bags and go back with you, I promise Sweetie.” She told him crossing her heart.

He couldn’t believe his ears. He was so happy at what he was hearing. “You’re not going to take this back are you?” he asked hopefully.

“I’m not going to take it back what I said I promise.” She told him happily.

He took her in his arms and started kissing her passionately. He took things slowly because he wanted to enjoy himself but most of all he wanted her to enjoy herself. He wanted to make love to her not just for a fast fuck. He wanted to show her how much she meant to him. They made love throughout the night and slept in late the next day. When he woke up he quietly got out of bed and slipped on his sweats and went down stairs to the kitchen. He wanted to surprise her with something. He knew how to make tea and toast so he hurried to make that and coffee for himself. When he was finished he found a tray and put everything on it and carried it up the stairs to the bedroom. She was still sleeping so he put the tray on the chair that was near the side of the bed and he went to gently kiss her on the lips. She started to stir and opened her eyes to a very handsome site.

“Well hello there handsome.” She said as she opened her eyes.

“Hi sleep well?” he asked looking back at her hazel eyes.

“Very, how about you?” she asked him back yawning.

 “I haven’t slept that well in weeks. I’m looking to sleep that well every night now.” He said smiling. “I brought you something to eat, it’s not the greatest it’s the only real thing I know how to make for breakfast really but it’s edible.” He said smiling proudly.

 “Toast and tea? And coffee. I’m impressed. And it looks good I’m starving I need to keep up my strength up you know.” She said giggling.

“Oh I know I was there too you know.” He said bending down to kiss her again. “If I haven’t said it this morning I Love You.” he said.

“No you haven’t and I Love You too. You know I so can get use to this.”  She said as she giggled.

As they finished they’re breakfast and a little morning tete’, they showered together which was a little longer than it should have been because she never showered with anyone before. And Jon was more than glad to show her how to save water or to waste water however you want to put it but she also learned how healthy he was and could go almost all day. As they stepped out of the shower he walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist.

“Oh God Jon not again! How do you do it?” she asked him surprised.

He laughed. “No baby I don’t think I could if I tried. It’s just that you’ve made me very happy that’s all. And I want to say Thank You for that.”

 She turned around to face him “No Thank You Sweetie for giving me meaning.”

They kissed some more and finally. “Hey what do you say we get dressed and find out what’s going on with your brothers so we can find out when we can get going.” Jon said.

 She just tried to smile and realized this was going to be harder than she thought. “Jon come on please they’ll call and if we don’t hear anything in a little while I’ll call them okay?”

“Fine I think we can find something to do until then.” He said as he started to nibble on her ear.

 “Jon Francis Bongiovi!” she yelped as she moved away from him.

 “What?” he said innocently.

“Give it a rest or it’s going to fall off!” she told him laughing.

 “Well, well, well, don’t we have a dirty mind.” He chuckled.

“And what does that mean?” she asked him indigently.

 “You know damn well.” He said as he started to saunter over to her.

“You’re the one with the dirty mind, I wasn’t even thinking of that. You know there are other things we can do you know.” He said holding her hands.

As she was blushing “Well you really can’t blame me can you? I mean Jon we like did it three times this morning not to mention all night.” She said looking down at the floor. 

“Can I ask you a question?” now he was curious as to why she got all weird on him.

 “Sure.” She said still being a little shy with him.

 “Are you embarrassed by talking about sex or say a lot of sex or having a lot of sex? Because I know this is really the first time we’ve been together like this. You seem a little um I don’t know shy?” he asked concerned.

 She just looked at him. “Huh I’m not shy…it’s just that I’m not used to not sleeping that’s all.” She said again looking down at the floor.

“Baby it’s okay to be sexual. I hate to tell you but I love sex. And I love sex with you. I’m not going to lie about that. I hope you love sex with me too. I know that’s not everything about our relationship but it is the best part. If we don’t have a great sex life then we’re not going to have a great relationship. Don’t you agree?”  he asked her concerned.

“No I agree, and our sex life is great. I just feel funny I guess here in my mom’s house that’s all. I’ll feel better when it’s just us knowing my family can’t pop in at any time they want.” She kind of lied as she didn’t want to get into it with him.

 “So will I. Now let’s get dressed so we can grab something to eat.” He told her.

“You’re hungry again.” She couldn’t believe it.

 “Baby one thing you’ll learn about me is that I never get enough sex or food.” He said as he put on his jeans. As they went downstairs Mary noticed there was a message on the answering machine.

 As she went to play it, “Argh do you have to play that?” Jon asked.

“Yes I do, it could be for either of us silly.” She said.

As she pressed play “Hey sweetie just wanted to know how you guys are doing? Hate to do this to you but we need you down at the police station today at two o’clock because they need our statements. So I’ll come by and pick you up so see you then and please be decent okay.” A.J. said as he left his message.

 “Oh he’s funny, decent my…” but Jon cut her off.

“Now, now he just doesn’t want to walk in on anything that’s all. Now can we get something to eat!” he said wrapping his arms around her.

Two o’clock came around and A.J. picked up his sister and Jon came along for the ride. He knew that Mick would probably be there to and just wanted to show him that she was his. As they walked into the station A.J. walked them into the conference room where everyone was waiting. Town took everyone’s statement and said that Brady was going to go down for the whole robbery for the necklace and for insurance fraud and kidnapping among others with Carpenter, Jenkins and Stevens as accessories. Everyone seemed relieved and that they would have to testify when the time came which meant the Barrett’s would have to come back when the trial started. Things seemed a little uncomfortable and Mary pulled Jon to the side.

 “Sweetie I really need to talk to Mick and I don’t want you to freak out.” She said.

“Really why?” he asked.

 “Because I need to clear a few things up before he leaves okay.” She told him.

 He just shuffled from one foot to another before he answered. Then he held her hand in his. “Okay I’ll meet you back at the house, but remember I Love You.”

“How can I forget. I Love You too.” She told him back as she kissed him.

Mary went over to Mick “Hi.”

“Hi.” He said back smiling happily.

 “I was wondering if we could talk?” she asked him.

“Sure but won’t your boyfriend be upset about that?” Mick asked her.

 “Well he’s not too thrilled about it but he knows it’s something I have to do. Something we both need to do.” She stated.

 “Okay we can go for coffee or something.” Mick told Joe that the two of them needed to go out for a while and that he would meet him back at the motel and if he could pack for him. They found a quaint coffee shop not far from the police station and found a booth in the back. Mick ordered a coffee while Mary ordered her tea.

 Mick started “So what was it that you wanted to talk about?” he asked her.

“Well about us I guess. Are we okay?” she asked him.

“Yeah we’re fine why?” Mick asked.

 “You know why Mick. The whole cabin thing because if I wasn’t seeing Jon you know what would have happened.”  She told him.

“Yeah I know. And I’m not going to kid you I still have those feelings so I really need to get the hell out of here.” He said matter of factly.

“Mick, I’m sorry I can’t return those feelings.” She said sadly.

 “You can’t or won’t.” he asked her outright.

 “Both, I do love Jon very much. What we have or had it’s because of what happened. Plus I was lonely missing Jon that’s all.” She explained to him hoping that he would understand.

 “If you say so.” He shot back.

 “Mick!” she exclaimed.

 “What, what do you want me to say. That my feelings for you aren’t real. Sorry not going to happen. They are real but you’re making it perfectly clear who you want, you made your choice so now I have to live with it.” He told her unhappily.

“Mick if I met you first things would be different but I’m not like that. You’re a wonderful guy but Jon is just, I can’t explain it. He makes me happy and all those other feelings that goes with it. Apparently I just have a hard time telling him.” She told him. She loved Jon very much and it was a new relationship and she wanted to explore it.

 “Why?” Mick wanted to know.

 “I don’t know, scared I guess. I’ve had a lot of things happen in my past and I’m just afraid of losing him guess.” She told him but didn’t want to get into Michael.

 “Does he know about everything?” Mick wanted to know.

 “Yeah he does.” And surprising it hadn’t scared him off.

 “Then don’t worry about it because I see the way he looks at you and plus the way he gives me the eye to basically back off he’s not going anywhere any time soon. Just be honest with him and everything should be okay.” Mick told her smiling.

 “Thanks. You know you are really a great guy.” She told him smiling back.

 “Yeah I know, great guys never get the girl.” He said as he chuckled.

 They finished up their talk and both walked away feeling a little bit better than before. At least now they both had closure.

As she walked in the door of her house Jon was on the phone “Yeah okay that sounds good. Don’t worry about it I’m flying out in the morning yeah Rich I have to go alright I’ll talk to you soon, bye... Hey Baby how’d thing’s go?” he asked hoping things went the way he hoped.

Smiling and walking over to the couch to join him she curled up to him “Good we had a good talk. Well he really thought that I might have had feelings for him too, he wasn’t too thrilled with me when I explained to him I didn’t but I think he understood.”

 “What he wasn’t too thrilled with you?” he said not amused.  

“He felt that I had feelings for him and that maybe my feelings for you were just, well you know.” Jon just looked at her not too happy.

  He just put his arm around her real tight and let her continue.

“Anyway I explained everything to him the way I did to you and I think he understood, he seemed too anyway. At least I feel better knowing he knows how I feel now. So that was Richie on the phone?” she asked him.

 “Yep.” Was all he said.

 “Okay and you’re leaving in the morning?” she asked disappointed.

 “Baby I didn’t tell you? I’m sorry. Yeah I have to leave in the morning. By any chance can you come with me?” he asked hoping.

 “No sweetie I haven’t even told my family yet. Plus I need to pack…” she started to say as he jumped in.

 “Okay I get it, but I still would love for you to come back with me. I can dream can’t I?” he said as he pulled her on top of him.

“Jon!” she exclaimed.

 “What!” he yelled back.

“Not here you silly.”  She told him.

“Why not we’re alone.” He said looking around.

“Are you kidding me! We’re never alone in this house trust me.” She said shocked.

“Okay then take me upstairs. Do ungodly things to me Baby because that’s gonna have to do me for a while until I see you again, which I hope won’t be too long.” He told her seriously.

 “I’ll talk to them as soon as I can I promise this weekend okay. Mom should be home by then and I’ll give you a call I have your schedule.” She explained to him.

 They spent the rest of their time making love before Jon had to leave the next day. The morning came fast. Seven am in the morning arrived as Jon woke up with a hard on. He turned to his girl to see if she was awake which she wasn’t.

He started to nibble her ear as she started to shift and her hand went up to her head to fend off the intruder. He started to blow in her ear and again she waved her hand. Then he slowly moved over to her lips to kiss her gently when her eyes slowly opened.

 “Hey there sleepy head. Thought you were going to sleep the morning away on me.” He told her.

“How could I with you kissing me like that. Plus I see that you’re wide awake.” She told him giggling.

 “Yeah I am, so what are you going to do about it?” he said as he started to caress her.

“Well I don’t think we have much time do we?” she asked him.

 “We’ll make time.” He told her anxiously.

 And that they did. It wasn’t long but satisfying enough for both as they were done before Jon’s ride got to the house on time.

“God Baby I hate this part.” He told her.

“I know but I’ll call you when I know when I’ll be able to join you. It won’t be long.” She promised.

 “It better not or I’m coming back and getting you, you got that.” He told her.

 “Yeah I do. Now go or you’ll miss your flight and Doc will kill us both.” As they kissed goodbye, Jon got in the car and headed out to the airport.
